We love book inspired play!
It’s so exciting to be able to bring books to life through play and crafting. For children it unlocks the world of the story but also gives them an opportunity to explore and discuss features of the book as well as to own the language themselves.
We have used story play to support keyword recognition, learn about coding, examine shapes, recreate our favourite illustrations, explore colour, counting practise, pattern spotting and sequencing, investigate animals, inspire recipes, discover music, learn about famous people, recognise emotions, practise kindness and more.
Throughout the UK November lockdown, I would love to help YOU come up with ideas for book inspired play and crafts. Comment on our Facebook or Instagram post with your chosen picture book and I will come back with some ideas for you to try out. Don’t leave me hanging - I’m all set for the challenge!!
